Dr. Richard G. Zech is an expert in several disicplines, including optical storage, photonics, nanotech for computer applications, holography, digital cameras, and flat panel displays. He has over 40 years of industrial and consulting experience.
Dr. Zech earned his MS and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan in 1967 and 1974, respectively. He earned his BS in electrical engineering from the Lawrence Institute of Technology in 1965.
His industrial experience includes nearly 20 years in positions ranging from research engineer to VP and Chief Technology Officer for a Fortune 500 company. Employers include University of Michigan, McDonnell-Douglas, Harris Corporation, and TRW. He has contributed to nine new ventures.
Dr. Zech has over 19 years of expert witness experience, including the authoring of expert reports, testifying at deposition, and testifying at the ITC and in Federal Court. His main contributions have been to patent litigation, working for either the plaintiff or defendant. He maintains significant prior art databases for the areas in which he practices. For the convenience of his litigation clients, Dr. Zech makes available his forensics and test laboratory.
He has over 21 years of both technology and business consulting experience. This includes temporary executive assignments as VP of Engineering, VP of Marketing and Sales, and VP of Strategic Planning and President and COO.
Thanks to an intensive involvement with NASA and the Department of Defense, Dr. Zech has a broad and deep background in photonics, computing, and materials science. Key technology expertise includes data storage (optical, holographic, and magnetic), nanotechnology for computer memory and storage, flat panel displays (all types), digital cameras and imaging, and small computer systems. For the past 5 years, he has been using his photonics expertise to focus on solar energy and LEDs.
Dr. Zech is the author of over 150 papers, presentations, and reports (a full list is available), not counting expert reports. He is an active member of numerous technical societies.
